Before the advent of e-mail, letters and mails are sent through the postal offices or postal service rather than through email, fax and other ways of electronic communication, which is the trend nowadays. Letters sent from the postal service was referred as "snail mail" because, these letters generally takes two to three days or even weeks to get to its destination whereas an email can be sent, received and be answered immediately as soon as the receiver had read the mail.
Technology and communication evolves so fast. Before, we communicate with our love ones, friends and coworkers through snail mail which was provided for us through the Postal Services. Today as I was passing by this small and old office building, I remember that I did not have the opportunity to write and send a letter to people I know using the Postal service. Although I was able to go inside this office twice to apply for a postal ID, after I graduated college, because I don't have any valid ID after my graduation. Despite the fact that I was not able to send letter, I was able to send a postal money order using the postal money service.

With the advent of modern technology, sending letters and mails to the our loved ones, friends, and coworkers made our lives a lot easier and hassle free. Not only do we save in papers, envelopes and postage costs but we have also found a valuable time saver in keeping contact and in touch with people we know. Nowadays, we are able to talk to people we know from different part of the world, despite the distance and time differences we have. There is really no doubt about how the world became small with the advanced technologies we have today.
These days, we still received letters(snail mail) from entrepreneurs who wants us to involve in their businesses such as letters from insurance companies and letters from charities asking for our donations. There is really no doubt that we live in a fast-paced universe nowadays and we have to go with the flow or else we will be left behind. People are moving at a speedy rate as though there is no tomorrow. I admit that this technological advancement offered to us, is a very big help in many ways and can be applied on our daily life. But it also affects us in a way that we are always on the go keeping up with the fast paced universe.
Although we have so many to gain in the swift and efficient turnaround of things, we also sometimes crave for the slowness of tempo and the luxury of taking each moment as a leisure and savoring the joy it brings to us.
