How important is technology in education? For the past years, learning and education simply mean a face to face lecture, reading books and hand-outs, taking down notes and completing assignments generally in the form of answering questions or writing essays. In short; education, learning and teaching was impossible without a teacher, books, chalkboards and notebooks. But as of today, with the advent of many helpful gadgets, education and training have a whole new meaning. Computers are essential part f every classroom and teachers using CD, DVDs, videos, and presentations to show how things work and operate. Moreover, each student can progress at his or her own pace.

In the current age we live in, TECHNOLOGY has been an important component of our everyday lives. Every day, new gadgets and softwares that make our everyday living easier and nevertheless improve the existing technology and software. Nowadays, Technology plays an important role in education. As technology advances, it is used to benefit students and even the professional ones in the learning process.  Technology used in the classrooms help students to visualize what the teacher is talking about. Technology has become an integral part of the learning process because even outside the school premises, we use computers and the internet to make presentations and to research for topics we need for assignments, reaction and term papers and reports.

The role of technology in education is included as a part of the curriculum, an instructional delivery system, a way of instruction and a tool used to enhance the entire learning process. Without technology, education would not be interactive and aggressive as compared to before that is passive and reactive. Education is very essential to the corporate and academic world. Education and training is used to help the labor force (workers) to do things differently than what they did before. However, education is being geared up towards creating curiosity in the minds of the young ones. For both cases, the use and importance of technology helps students and workers to understand and retain the concepts better.

The rapid and constant pace of change in technology is creating both opportunities and challenges for schools. The opportunities include greater access to wide multimedia content, the widespread availability of computing devices that can be accessed in the internet, the expanding role of social networking tools for learning and professional development and the growing interest in the power of the digital world for more learning. The impact of technology to us can be extremely significant, as far as the education sector is concerned. The use of technology makes the entire process of learning not only interesting but more impactful as well. As the technology advances, students and professionals have better access to educational opportunities and information that the internet provide us.

When technology is used properly in the field of education, it can be a powerful tool that can help engage and challenge learners, provides the learners with practice and include feedbacks that can be very useful to students to reflect on what they have learned. It is very evident that technology has changed the education system. It helped in enhancing the learning experience as well as a student’s perception or thinking of what he or she can do. 

Over the years, with the advent of the modern technology, it really became obvious for everyone of us how important TECHNOLOGY in EDUCATION.
